Adventure In Croatia and Slovenia
"The fate of these nations depends on the ability of divergent people who live here to coexist peacefully."
Please take a moment and look at this map above. Do you see how close you are to Italy, particularly Venice ? A combined vacation would be a wonderful experience and must be planned with care so that you maximize your time while traveling.

I find it funny. Usually when I say that I am traveling (have traveled) to a specific destination, people are full of questions and curiosity. This time however when I mention "Croatia and Slovenia" a polite look of puzzlement, or a pause if we are on the phone, follows. Why Croatia? As many of you know, discovering the undiscovered is a passion of mine.
Since gaining independence in 1991 and rejecting Soviet-style ideology, Croatia has been working through all kinds of social and political issues. As Croatia moves toward membership in the European Union, travelers are flocking to this destination with 2500 miles of dramatic coastline on the Adriatic Sea, 1185 islands, medieval hilltop castles, ancient ruins and abundant natural wonders. Signs of economic recovery are everywhere, from luxury hotels on the Adriatic Coast to thriving upscale boutiques. Croatia is putting on its sophisticated face to the world and its people are warm and inviting, eager for us to experience their savvy destination and learn of their proud heritage.
Dubrovnik, Croatia
"The Pearl of The Adriatic"
Dubrovnik is considered the most beautiful and famous Croatian city. It was a powerful rival of Venice as both have rights of the Adriatic Sea. Dubrovnik still rivals Venice with its beauty and charming atmosphere. No visit to Dubrovnik is complete without a walk along the top of its wall, a work of artful fortification built in medieval times that frames the historic city. With spectacular views surrounding us, we made our way along the 1 1/4 mile circuit along the wall, which is 82 feet high and 20 feet thick at some points. There are 858 steps to complete the walk, with plenty of places to stop and admire the beauty. As its name suggests, the Old Town is medieval and still houses hundreds of people, with alleyways extending to the sky, cafes up and down along the cobble stoned side streets and of course wonderful shopping where you are sure to find that special gift. In the heart of the town in an alleyway easy to miss, I discovered a boutique 8 room hotel. The owner led me to the terrace where breakfast is often served, overlooking the Old Town. The magnificent views were priceless and the hotel location was as convenient as it gets. Are you interested in experiencing Dubrovnik in a different way ? Horseback riding, ATV safaris, and day cruises are another option and are easy to arrange.
